Evansville, IN — The Deaconess Aquatic Center is gearing up to host its annual Kids Triathlon on Saturday, September 13, 2025, inviting children ages 5 to 12 to dive into a morning of fitness, fun, and friendly competition.
The event will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Deaconess Aquatic Center, located at 24 Don Mattingly Way, and promises to be a family-friendly, beginner-welcoming introduction to triathlon-style racing.
Designed with age-appropriate distances and a strong focus on safety, the triathlon features three age groups:
Ages 5–6: 25-yard swim, 0.75-mile bike (1 loop), 0.25-mile run (turnaround course) Ages 7–9: 50-yard swim, 1.5-mile bike (2 loops), 0.75-mile run (1 loop) Ages 10–12: 75-yard swim, 2.25-mile bike (3 loops), 1.5-mile run (2 loops)
All distances are modified to keep the experience safe, manageable, and most importantly, fun for young participants. The event uses a running clock format, meaning no official times will be kept, and the emphasis is on participation, effort, and enjoyment rather than competition.
“This is a great way to get kids moving, build their confidence, and let them experience the thrill of finishing a multi-sport race,” said a spokesperson from the Deaconess Aquatic Center. “Whether they’ve done a race before or this is their first, we’re here to cheer them on.”
The early bird registration fee is $20 if completed by August 1, with the price increasing to $25 after that. Registration closes on September 6. Space is limited, and families are encouraged to sign up early.

Whether it’s for the love of sport or just the fun of trying something new, the Kids Triathlon is a celebration of youth fitness and community spirit. Grab your gear and come join the race!
